Living Below The Line

The goal of Living Below The Line is to provide an opportunity for individuals living in poverty in Waterloo Region to give voice to their stories and experiences, and to have these stories listened to and honoured. LBTL is about understanding people’s realities and learning from them. To do this, LBTL wants to grow a creative community that will use theatre as a form of advocacy for change in Waterloo Region. LBTL is a 4-month project running March – June 2022 for 17 individuals living in poverty to collaborate on a new theatre play, with music, with professional theatre makers who are experienced in co-creating work with communities. Our new show will then be presented to 5 different audiences around Waterloo Region. More info at: WatercourseTheatre.com

CATHERINE FRID
Guelph, ON

Catherine Frid is a Guelph-based playwright who has been co-creating new work communities since 2014. As well, her full-length work has been produced at the Toronto Fringe, SummerWorks, Guelph Museums, Mixed Company Theatre, Kitchener’s Unhinged Festival, Alumnae Theatre and others. Publications include Our Voices: Senior Selfies (Art Age Publications) and This Isn’t Toronto in Long Story Short, a Playwrights Canada Press 10-minute play anthology.

Catherine is artistic director at Watercourse Theatre and teaches dramaturgy at Ryerson University’s Chang School. She has been Playwright in Residence at Mixed Company Theatre and Artist in Residence at Osgoode Hall Law School.
