Know Better, Do Better is Marit Collective’s marquee International Women’s Day conference, presented on March 7 2020 for the fifth year in a row, again at the Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI). This full day event provides opportunities to deeply examine important insights and concepts so that we can grow in our understanding as we push to improve our world.

Stephanie Rozek, Co-Founder, Marit Collective & The Causerie

A strong advocate for diversity and inclusion, Stephanie Rozek is the award-winning co-founder of Marit Collective, an organization that promotes thoughtfulness and change at the personal level through constantly evolving, honest human dialogue. An established coach, writer, and speaker, she has over 20 years experience working with clients and companies locally in Waterloo Region and across North America, in industries including software development, healthcare, industrial automation, and academia.

Stephanie’s work has focused on social innovation which originated in the technology sector—and has broadened over time through to more general community engagement with Marit’s community space, the Causerie. Her non-profit and advocacy work has included founding and directing Hive Waterloo Region, and the Year of Code Waterloo Region campaign.

CJ Perez, Co-Founder, Marit Collective & The Causerie

CJ Perez is the co-founder of Marit Collective, a nonprofit organization spreading greater insight through constantly evolving, honest dialogue. Her pursuit to gain a comprehensive understanding of how humans connect (and conflict) with each other has spanned years, with passionate personal research, carefully crafted content sharing, and deep involvement in communities both online and IRL. Her event organization background includes an annual International Women’s Day speakers platform, as well as workshops, facilitated small-group discussions, engaging social events (such as tiny concerts, potlucks, and dance parties), and ongoing collaborations with a diverse range of Waterloo Region’s talented & creative residents. In creating the Causerie space and building its membership (which is Marit Collective’s key initiative), she continues strengthening thoughtful community at a very local and practical level, through exploring important social issues while promoting face-to-face dialogue and human connection.
