MICHELLE RAMSAY
Lighting Designer
Michelle Ramsay is an award-winning lighting designer who has created designs for dance, theatre and opera companies across Canada and around the world. The evolution of Michelle’s unique aesthetic can be seen throughout her 20 year career on the spectrum between small, independent shows and large-scale productions.
Selected designs include: Sherlock Holmes and the Raven’s Curse, The Russian Play (Shaw Festival); Year of the Rat, acts of faith (Factory Theatre online); Indigenous Fashion Week Toronto 2020 – online edition; A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Theatre Rusticle); The Jungle (Tarragon Theatre); Broken Tailbone (Nightswimming); Shanawdihit (Tapestry Opera); Lilies (lemonTree Creations/Why Not); Under the Stairs (YPT); School Girls; Or, The African Mean Girls Play (Obsidian/Nightwood); The Royale (Soulpepper). She has received eight Dora Awards, a SATAward, and the 2008 Pauline McGibbon Award, as well as being short-listed for the 2021 Siminovitch Prize. She is on the board of the Associated Designers of Canada.
ANNE DOELMAN
Anne Doelman (she/her) is based in Waterloo Ontario. She fell in love with storytelling for the stage as a young actor in Original Kids Theatre Company (London, Ontario) and went onto study drama at Queen’s University. She is currently finishing her MFA in Creative Writing at UBC. When avoiding deadlines, Anne falls down internet rabbit holes that lead her to topics like theology, do it yourself furniture construction, Hannah Arendt, the dynamics of codependency and any medical ailment she thinks she might have at the time. She is also an English, Drama and Communication Technology teacher and a mom of three children with many pandemic pets.
