Festival Company in Residence – Virtu Arts

Femme Folks Fest 2021 is delighted to host Virtu Arts as our first Festival Company in Residence. Found in 2019, Virtu Arts is a new, much needed addition to the theatre ecology and companies practicing in Waterloo Region. Virtu Arts is led by Artistic Director Vanessa Spence.

Virtu Arts will be in residence throughout the Festival.

Virtu Arts is a community arts organization that focuses on creating virtual spaces to educate, develop, and share Black/African/Caribbean diasporic creators and their stories with the world. Virtu Arts’ work is divided into three creative streams – education, development, and production – that seeks to nurture artists through every step of their creative process by offering group skill-building workshops, new works development programs, and producing live performances.

Stay in touch with Virtu Arts on Instagram @virtuartsprod and on their website www.virtuarts.ca.
