Celebrate World Theatre Day with the artists from Femme Folks Fest! Experience a fun, interactive installation inspired and co-created by you, our creative community! Watch as contributions by audience, volunteers, and artists throughout Femme Folks Fest find their way into a new, creative art installation about what theatre means to folks from the KW region. Developed and compiled by recognized regional creators Taylor Marie Graham and Tara Cooper, this event is open to all who want to raise a glass to theatre in KW and celebrate with our partners from around the globe on World Theatre Day!

Tara Cooper ’s art practice draws from creative non-fiction. She has an “everything but the kitchen sink approach to materials and media, and often joins forces with her all-in-one collaborator and husband Terry O’Neill. Their work combines print, found objects, sculpture and text along with documentary filmmaking. Recent accomplishments include residencies at Haystack, Vermont Studio Center, Ox-Bow, Anderson Ranch, The Wassaic Project and Landfall Trust, as well as arts council grants from Ontario and Canada, and a public art commission for Kitchener Waterloo’s ION light rail transit system.

She is also the co-editor of Printopolis, a recent publication examining contemporary print culture, as well as the coordinator of S.A.I.L., a University of Waterloo outreach arts program that runs out of a vintage Airstream trailer. Her exhibition record includes national and international venues such as KWAG (Kitchener, Ontario), SNAP Gallery (Edmonton, Ontario), Alberta Printmakers Studio and Gallery (Calgary, Ontario), Arprim Gallery (Montreal, Canada) the Wassaic Project (Wassaic, New York), and Haystack’s Center for Coummunity (Deer Isle Village, Maine). She received her MFA from Cornell University and her BFA along with a BEd from Queen’s University.

Tara is a long-standing member of Open Studio, and is an Associate Professor at the University of Waterloo, Department of Fine Arts. She lives in Kitchener, Ontario with her husband Terry and their dog Pickles. www.taracooper.com
